Mathew Tombers is Managing Director of Intermat, Inc. Since its launch in 1999, Mr. Tombers has led the company in a number of successful consulting engagements and Executive Produced a number of television programs.

Mr. Tombers started his television career in 1984, opening the West Coast Advertising Sales office for Arts & Entertainment, building the office from no clients to well over a hundred and driving revenue to exceed goal. For five of the six years Mr. Tombers ran the office, it was rated number one in client service and customer satisfaction by the Myers' Report.

A desire to expand his professional horizons and to become more personally involved with media production led Mr. Tombers to leave A&E and to join FCB/Entertainment, where he helped agency clients utilize television in new ways and successfully found client funding for television projects, including Monday Night Match-up.

From there, he was recruited to Discovery Communications to manage the corporate co-production relationship the company had with the Chrysler Corporation. Under Mr. Tombers' direction over twenty-five hours of television were created through this relationship, including the Rediscovering America specials.

His success in leading this corporate relationship resulted in an expanding of his responsibilities to include New Business Development. In this role he helped incubate new business initiatives including Discovery On-Board, which creates and manages Discovery Channels for airlines and cruise lines.

At the request of the International Division, Mr. Tombers was assigned as an internal business consultant to help with the launch of Discovery Channel Australia. He also spent several months in New Delhi, supporting Discovery Channel India, now one of that country's most successful satellite services.

Mr. Tombers accepted an opportunity to work with Carolyn Chambers, one of the founders of Liberty Media and the Chairperson of Chambers Communications. For three years he led the company's production division. Under Mr. Tombers it produced dozens of hours of programming for cable networks and syndication, sold a project into development at NBC and developed a science fiction project that was marketed by Village Roadshow Productions.

In his media career, Mr. Tombers has frequently mixed his professional life with community interests.

He helped co-produce four live radio dramas as well as co-ordinate their public relations. The broadcasts were benefits for the U.S. Committee for UNICEF. The 1981 production was the first live network radio drama in over twenty-five years and starred John Houseman, Lynn Redgrave, June Lockhart and John Carradine.

In 1990, he became involved with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Tombers chaired the committee that produced the Superhighway Summit in 1994 with Vice President Gore. He produced several other events at the Academy, exploring the intersection of television and new technologies.

For four years, he was Governor for the Television Executives Peer Group and helped the Academy launch the Interactive Media Peer Group in 2000, the first new peer group created by the Academy in over fifteen years. He served as its interim Governor for a year while the group was launching.

For two years, he produced the Emmys on the Web and supervised web related activities for the Academy, including for the 50th Anniversary year of the Emmy Awards.

His involvement with media evolution while at the Academy prompted Mr. Tombers to join Sabela Media as it was launching in the United States. The Australian born company offered ad management tools for advertising agencies and web sites. His stewardship of the company's sales and marketing efforts contributed significantly to the successful sale to 24/7 Media in 2000.

After helping shape the transition to 24/7 Media, Mr. Tombers left the company and formed Intermat, Inc.

Intermat helped place CUBA: PICTURES FROM THE REVOLUTION on the Discovery Times Network. The company also helped shape a business deal between Dwell Magazine, Betelgeuse and Fine Living Network for a television version of the magazine.
